Hengshan Mountain in Hunan,often calledNanyue (Southern Mountain)and Longevity Mountain, is one of the most famous FiveGreat Mountains of China (Mt. Taishan in Shandong Province, Mt. Huashan in Shaanxi Province, Mt. Hengshan in Shanxi Province, Mt. Hengshan in Hunan Province and Mt. Songshan in Henan Province). Among the five mountains, Mount Hengshan in Hunanis said to be the most graceful one with green foliage and blossoms all the year around.

Themed as Create Business Opportunity, Enlarge International Market, the third China Guilin International Tourism Expo opened in Guilin International Convention Centre on 6th, September, 2012. On learning the news that bamboo rafting on Li River is officially permitted, Guilin Tianyuan International Travel Service Co.,LTD organized a field trip to the essence of Li River, the section of which we were going to cruise begins from Yangdi Pier to Xingping Landscape Area in Yangshuo. Another purpose is to investigate some restaurants and hotels in Yangshuo. As a member of its English department - VisitOurChina, I had the great honor to carry out the site investigation with seven collegues of other departments.

Last Saturday, Guilin Tianyuan International Travel Service Co.,LTD, one of key travel agencies in Guilin, was invited to visit the Yi Jiang Yuan Scenic Spot (义江缘景区) which is dubbed as the No.1 village with most appeals in Guilin and themed by ethnic culture of Miao, Yao, Dong and Zhuang people. Andy, Sissy and me, as members of its English Department, namely Visit Our China, was lucky to participate in the activity with other colleagues of Tianyuan Company. Idyllic landscape of Yijiang River and colorful ethnic culture are the two eye-catching parts of Yi Jiang Yuan Scenic Spot. We really had a great day there.

China boasts vast territory with various geographic environments that are instrumental in forming and preserving sorts of species. No countries other than China possess such abundant raw materials of foods. And its people are collecting, digging, picking and catching these gifts of Mother Nature throughout the year. China is also a populous country with distinct tastes, but inviting Chinese foods never fail to appeal to people. Lotus roots are one of the gifts from part of nature - lakes, and delicate dishes made of them are always mouthwatering.

Now, I learned Chinese in Beijing, that means I learned my Chinese with all the Rs, my first time hearing Chinese was in Beijing and I kinda thought it sounded like a bunch of dogs barking at each other. Ruf ruf ruf ruf ruf. But hey thats how I started Chinese, so in 2009 when I came to Yangshuo to start teaching, and to learn Chinese, I wasnt even remotely used to their Chinese. None of the Rs I fell in love with, or for that matter really good Mandarin. At that time hearing the difference between Northern Mandarin and Southern Mandarin was like hearing a true New Yorker speaking his form of English, and hearing someone from the deep deep South in a swamp in the middle of nowheres English.

Now, when I was in America I never got the chance to bargain, where I went I just paid whatever the price was, no questions asked, no second thought. But you see, all that changed when I came to china, it was no longer I paid what the sticker price was, or what other people said it was, it all came down to how well I could bargain, how much I wanted it, could I grit my teeth longer and be more intense and more into bargaining then the person selling it.

Time flies so fast that it is time for us to welcome the brand new 2012. Looking back to the past year, we can factually remember and feel every detail of our work overtime for handling inquiries and emails at the office in the evening, double checking and ensuring booking information with suppliers, helping customers in their course of travel with various problems by phone, etc. Most of the time we were as busy as a bee, but all of the tiredness turned into joyousness of feeling relieved finally when all these problems were successfully solved.
