South Anhui Province is known to travelers for its historic villages, famous Hongcun, Xidi, and many other unknown Xiuli, Bishan, Nanping, Guanlu…. all of them were built in Ming and Qing dynasties in typical Hui-style: white walls, black tiles, standing by the water and elegantly mirrored in it. The comfortable beauty of such picture captivates many tourists.
People generally know Guilin but ignore other beauties of Guangxi Province. Actually, Guangxi offers so much more than just Guilin. The Miao Ethnical Minority villages in Rongshui County, Guangxi Province, has the very interesting “Po Hui Festival”(a popular activity for the locals to wish for good harvest through the reed-pipe wind instruments) every year, which is a kind of non-material cultural heritage that originates from nature and showed by dances, songs and various activities.
“If you didn’t watch ‘Where are we going, dad?’ there would be no common language with others”, though exaggerated the reality show "Where are we going, dad?" broadcasted by a Chinese provincial TV is really popular in China at present. Besides curiosities to star fathers’ private lives, the ways they adopted to get along with their kids and children’ lovely performances, the six filming sites carefully chosen for twelve episodes is also a reason attracting eyeballs.
Taopingqiangzhai, or Taoping Qiang Village, 163 kilometres away from Chengdu, is located along the Zagunao River in the Taoping Village of Li County of Aba prefecture. First built in 111B.C, Taoping ancient Qiang Village boasts the intact Qiang architecture, culture and arts to this day, and lures people by virtue of its simple and unsophisticated folk customs. As the only well-protected Qiang village in the world, Taopingqiangzhai has been deemed as the living fossil in the study of original Qiang culture, and has enjoyed the reputation as the mysterious oriental ancient castle due to its typical Qiang architectures and complex road structures.
Coming out of Mr. Shi’s home, we were accompanied by a man surnamed Yang, deputy director of the village committee, to walk around the village. He kept introducing everything we saw to us on the way: the newly-built cement road through village, the four drum towers in the north, south, east and west, the elementary school built with mixed structure of cement etc.
