Thank God, the rainy days of Guilin came to the end in April and girls in mini-skirts declared the coming of summer! Pleasant weather, footloose holidays - that always make people want to do something relaxing, especially in Yangshuo, a place where people never need to worry about how to kill time. The weather forecast told us that we would have a rainy holiday; fortunately, it was still cloudy after our lunch on 1st May, so we decided to take a chance to ride along the way to the Moon Hill to enjoy the nice countryside scenery and pick strawberries.

Visiting one of the biggest city in the world is an unforgettable moment especially when this one is located in China. Shanghai (上海), China's most famous city as well as a financial, economic and foreign trade metropolis, is just a must-see city in the country: it is the city that I had the chance to visit several years ago, in 2007. Since that time, Shanghai has for sure changed a lot, for example, hosting the large-scale international event of 2010 World Expo changed its urbanization and architecture in some areas.

In July 2007, I had the chance to do my first trip to China, and what a trip I had! During one month, I discovered so many things that just made me fall in love with the country and its people: a feeling I can't deny since then. Starting from Zhejiang Province (浙江省), my trip did a long way to the north including the city of Beijing (北京), our last stop-off point before flying back to my country. On our way and after having visited the amazing sprawling city of Shanghai (上海), our bus made a one day stop in the city of Suzhou (苏州). Located in Jiangsu Province (江苏省), Suzhou is one of the most famous tourist destination in China, often holding the surname of Oriental Venice as well as water, garden and silk township. Its localization at just a few kilometers away from Shanghai and Hangzhou (杭州) (the three of them form the Scenic Triangle South of the Yangtze River) is the opportunity to have a new vision of China, especially after the big city that has become Shanghai.

My first trip to China was supposed to start by a one week study in Zhoushan Nanhai Experimental School on Zhoushan Island (舟山岛), Zhejiang Province (浙江省), and my first city-stop after Shanghai Pudong Airport was the seaside city of Ningbo (宁波市) separated from Zhoushan Island by a narrow body of water. Located in northeastern Zhejiang Province, Ningbo is one of the oldest city of China for its localization on the border of the East China Sea and its past as a trading harbor.

Taohua Island (Peach Blossom Island)... This name sounds like a dream full of expectations. Being the second place I visited in China, this is important for me to present it to you as I was literally speachless in front of its beauty. The Peach Blossom Island, Tao Hua Dao (桃花岛) in Mandarin Chinese, is part of the Zhoushan (舟山) archipelago located in northeastern Zhejiang Province (浙江省). The island south of the biggest Zhoushan island one (Dinghai Island), just represents 42squeare kilometersbut is a marvel of botanical diversity, lush sceneries of natural rich flora and fauna.

Once referring Guangzhou, people like to compare it with Beijing (Peking) and Shanghai, even Hong Kong. Indeed, Guangzhou is one of the 3 most important cities in mainland of China, although Guangzhou is not a municipality like Beijing and Shanghai, it also plays an irreplaceable role in Pearl River Delta area. If we say Beijing is the city of ancient culture and politics, Shanghai is the city of finance, commerce, fashion and internationalism, then Guangzhou is just the city of economy and delicious food. In the mean time, Guangzhou is also a crucial transportation hub and trading port, convenient to access to Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Hong Kong and Macao.

If someone asks me the first place I have ever been to in China, apart from Shanghai where I first landed and visited later on during my one-month trip, I will answer: Zhoushan Island (舟山岛). This name may seem unfamiliar to many people, that is the reason why I am even more eager to make you discover it.
