After a tight sleeping, we had another full day sightseeing in Turpan. Today we visited Ancient City of Gaochang, Tuyugou Village, Flaming Mountain and Bizaklik Thousand Buddha Caves, we even visited a Local Family and enjoyed a dinner with them.
Some people might love staying in a lodge along the Yulong River in Yangshuo, some people might love biking or hiking in the countryside of local village, or enjoy a night show- Impression Liusanjie, etc., but Yangshuo is not only one way to enjoy or play, Lijiang Bay and Ruyi Peak provide more fun to us.
Turpan is a city lying in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in the far northwestern part of China. The city, also known as "Turfan" or "Tulufan" is mostly composed of Uyghur ethnic minority people, what explains the typical and unique culture the place enjoys since ancient times. The city of Turpan flourishes with many historical and natural sites of a gorgeous uniqueness barely seen anywhere else in China.
Dunhuang Museum, formerly an Archaeology Office, which is subordinated to Cultural Center of the city, Dunhuang Museum was officially founded in October, 1979. Dunhuang Museum is a comprehensive topography one principally exhibits historic and cultural relics. Now it has collected over 4000 precious cultural relics in the locality.
Mogao Grottoes locates 25 km southeast of Dunhuang City, we drove about 30 minutes to there. As an important strategic location on the Silk Road in the ancient times, Mogao Grottoes was not only a transfer station of east-west trade but also an intersection where oriental and western religions, cultures and knowledge combined.
Singing Sand Mountains & Crescent Moon Spring scenic spot, the particular geographic landform around the lake prevents it from being buried in the desert; on the other hand, the underflows beneath it also ensure continuous source for it. Therefore, the lake has never dried up or buried by drifting sands in spite of locating among sand dunes, it is a miracle in the desert. Also, it makes the place more beautiful and romantic, like a drop of tear from heaven.
Dunhuang, one of the most brilliant cultural cities on Silk Road, it is famous in the world for its Mogao Mogao Grottoes and desert, Dunhuang city is just surrounded by Gobi and desert, so Dunhuang is also known as the City of Sands or Shazhou (sandbank) due to its long expanses of sand dunes and golden shiny houses.
Jiayuguan is the west end of the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty, and the first mountain pass of the west Yellow River. Jiayuguan was built in the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644) . When first completed, there were only ramparts surrounding the barracks. After 168 years of enhancements, the pass assumed its present appearance. Due to its strategic geographical location and imposing architectures, Jiayuguan Fort is dubbed as the impregnable pass around the world, it is ranked by UNESCO.
