After a tight sleeping, we had another full day sightseeing in Turpan. Today we visitedAncient City of Gaochang, Tuyugou Village, Flaming Mountain and Bizaklik Thousand Buddha Caves, we even visited a Local Family and enjoyed a dinner with them.

Singing Sand Mountains Crescent Moon Spring scenic spot, the particular geographic landform around the lake prevents it from being buried in the desert; on the other hand, the underflows beneath it also ensure continuous source for it. Therefore, the lake has never dried up or buried by drifting sands in spite of locating among sand dunes, it is a miracle in the desert. Also, it makes the place more beautiful and romantic, like a drop of tear from heaven.

After finishing the sightseeing tour in Xiahe, we were driven back to Lanzhou, from where we would head for Zhangye. We boarded the bullet train from Lanzhou to Zhangye and started the 4.5-hour “sightseeing trip” on the train.

It's foggy which makes it difficult to see much of anything. We headed out and went up and down stairs for about 20 minutes. We then turned around and back to the hotel we went as it was much too foggy to see anything. We did see some of the granite peaks that pierced the sky but missed most of them. So be it. We still very much enjoyed this part of our travel experience. Following dinner in Huangshan we were driven to a theater where we then enjoyed a cultural performance. Once again we had seats in one of the front of the auditorium seats.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, or Moon Festival, comes each year on lunar calendar August.15th. This year, it falls on Monday, Sept.8th, but people have the day off because it is a public holiday in China.The Mid-Autumn Festival is the most traditional festival in China just second to Spring Festival. To admire the beautiful full moon is the highlight of this festival. According to Chinese people, it is recommended to do it outdoors especially on a high site to obtain a broad vision.
