Guilin city has a history of more than 2,130 years, the integration of multiple cultures has formed rich and colorful intangible cultural heritage resources. At present, more than 400 items have been included in the protection lists of intangible cultural heritage at the national, provincial, municipal and county levels. These intangible cultural heritages have greatly enriched the culture and tourism of Guilin.

Longsheng County in Guilin is well-known for marvelous terraced rice fields and rich cultures of ethnic minorities. Locals respect the land they living by and generally express their deep reverence through various activities, many festivals are consequently celebrated in the area throughout a year. Combing Rice Seedling Festival is one among these colorful activities. As a traditional folk festival in Longji Rice Terraces scenic area, it is held around the Grain in Ear (one of the 24 solar terms) every year.

It is generally known that China is a large agricultural country, though numerous peasants flood into cities to seek jobs these years, people in Longsheng County of Guilin hold fast to the land and still pay much attention to agriculture. Every year the Spring Ploughing Festival is held in Dragon's Backbone (literally Longji) Rice Terraces Scenic Area of Longsheng, attracting visitors from around the world.

As a major Chinese online tour operator and travel agency, Guilin Tianyuan International Travel Service Co., LTD, under the representation of its English Department: Visit Our China, was invited to participate in a one day travel agencies' meeting at the Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces and Zhuang Village Scenic Area (龙脊古壮寨梯田观景区). Occurring on last Friday, June 10th, I had the immense honor to represent the company and get a chance to know more about the unique scenery of the Longji (龙脊) rice terraces in Longsheng County, Guilin.

VisitOurChina hosted one family group from Holland to enjoy the highlights of Guilin for 4 days this month. As a travel advisor of VisitOurChina, luckily, I got the chance to be their company and made an in-depth site inspection of the attractions in Guilin, such as the Elephant Trunk Hill, the Seven Star Park, the Reed Flute Cave, the Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces and the Yao and Zhuang Ethnic Tribes in Longsheng, the Li River, and the West Street in the ancient town of Yangshuo. To be honest, I have lived in Guilin for almost 8 years but still feel that it is just like an emerald waiting to be explored. So here, I would like to share what we have enjoyed in these 4 days with you.
