Beyond the green mountains and clear waters, Guilin is all about food. I'v been living in Guilin since my birth and the more I'm here, the more I fall in love with Guilin. Growing up in this small but lively city, I was used to being surrounded by rich and spicy flavors and fed with a constant stream of Guilin Noodles, rice, and Li River fishes. Although Guilin Rice Noodles has been widely spread to everywhere of the country, only in Guilin that you can get the absolute taste.

VisitOurChina hosted one family group from Holland to enjoy the highlights of Guilin for 4 days this month. As a travel advisor of VisitOurChina, luckily, I got the chance to be their company and made an in-depth site inspection of the attractions in Guilin, such as the Elephant Trunk Hill, the Seven Star Park, the Reed Flute Cave, the Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces and the Yao and Zhuang Ethnic Tribes in Longsheng, the Li River, and the West Street in the ancient town of Yangshuo. To be honest, I have lived in Guilin for almost 8 years but still feel that it is just like an emerald waiting to be explored. So here, I would like to share what we have enjoyed in these 4 days with you.

When my friend Flo called me to tell me that he would come and visit me for the weekend, I was very excited. The tour was during four hours and included a Western-Chinese lunch buffet. As the sun was shining we spent most of the time on top of the boat to enjoy the mountains surrounding us and to take pictures. It was a very enjoyable time. Arriving in Yangshuo, we nearly were overrun by elderly women offering bamboo boat tours, flowers or bike tours (Wo bu yao! means I dont want that!). ...
