This May I had a Silk Road tour with our honored customers from abroad. The over twenty days’ tour is such a great experience, left so many unforgettable memories. We chose Lanzhou as our starting point this time since we visited Xi’an before.
The people of China are the BIG reason why China is my very favorite travel destination of the 73 countries that I have visited. I've enjoyed traveling to each of these countries to be sure but there always has to be a number one. I look forward to another return visit to China.
Suzhou is the 'City of Gardens'. We will be visiting the 'Humble Administrator's Garden", the largest privately owned garden in China. The gardens didn't disappoint. Following lunch we visited 'The Number 1 Silk Factory'. Following this visit we're off to the beautiful 'Pan Gate'. Then we are off to the 'Tiger Hill Scenic Area', the most famous site in Suzhou. The site features the Tiger Hill Pagoda or the 'The Leaning Tower of China'. This tower was built long before the Leaning Tower of Pisa. This area is also beautiful, peaceful, and inspirational.
Jay and I boarded the train at Huangshan the previous evening and we were on our way to Shanghai. Shanghai is a very large city with 24 million inhabitants. Nowadays the international metropolis of the city is an influential economic power in the world and undoubtedly an economic, financial, trade, cultural, science and technology center of China.
We have arrived at Hongcun Village, an ancient village, over 800 years old and close to Mount Huangshan. It is known as 'The Chinese town in the pictures". Such a peaceful and beautiful old town. We also visited Xidi Village with its narrow streets, ancient homes with their fascinating furnishings, and antiques.
It's foggy which makes it difficult to see much of anything. We headed out and went up and down stairs for about 20 minutes. We then turned around and back to the hotel we went as it was much too foggy to see anything. We did see some of the granite peaks that pierced the sky but missed most of them. So be it. We still very much enjoyed this part of our travel experience. Following dinner in Huangshan we were driven to a theater where we then enjoyed a cultural performance. Once again we had seats in one of the front of the auditorium seats.

At the end of the day what really matters is that your loved ones are well, you’ve done your best and that you’re thankful for all you have.
I awoke at 6:30 AM. Guess what? It's raining again. I borrowed an umbrella from the hotel. There is a person near the front desk of the hotel that is handing them out. I enjoyed another very satisfying breakfast. The hotel restaurant has someone making omelettes. I walked up to him and saw what I believed to be were pancakes. I asked him for some syrup and he pointed to something that appeared to be syrup. As it turned out the 'pancakes' were in fact 'round fried eggs' and the syrup turned out to be soy sauce. Anyhow they were delicious.
