created: 2010-07-27
According to the National Tourism Administration, southwest China's Sichuan Province has become the first province to launch a pilot tourism standardization scheme in China.
In the next one and half years, the provincial government will focus its efforts on exploring ways of promoting the standardization of tourism, establishing standard systems, and evaluating the results.
By 2012, the province will have established 10 standardized tourism cities and counties and 50 standardized industry-related enterprises.
Reportedly the move is in line with State Council's decision to speed up tourism development.
