Please dont be surprised to see visitors go to and fro in Nanluoguxiang (Nanluogu Lane or literally South Gong and Drum Lane) in constant streams all day if you pay a visit to it during your Beijing tour. People with different colors across the world are attracted here: they may wander around the lane on feet or by bike, or look for their favorite bars or delicacies and take a rest in the lane. Those who yearn for old Beijing love the lane since it is filled with most authentic flavor of Beijing, while foreign friends like here for their usual tasteful sentiments and romantic feelings.

Almost all visitors who have lived in Hutongs of Beijing will take a fancy to Chinese quadrangle courtyard and old Beijing culture. For them, to go deep into Hutongs, the past memories and traces of Old Beijing, is the only way to a real Beijing. Nanluoguxiang (南锣鼓巷), or South Luogu Lane, a hutong built 700 years ago in Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), has become a popular haunt for both domestic and foreign travelers today with many distinctive bars, stores and galleries.

Back in 2007, my trip in northeastern China with my University Program ended finally by the awe-inspiring visit of the capital city of Beijing. Most famous Chinese city for its great historical and cultural background, Beijing was the destination that everyone was waiting for during this one-month trip. A destination full of hope and expectations that didn’t deceive us indeed at the end for its many sightseeing and great attractions.
