After lunch, we will start our warm up ride to Yao Mountain, the highest mountain in the region with height of 700 meters. We stop our biking at the bottom of the mountain and start our one hour hike to the top and enjoy the Karst formations and a fantastic view of the city. Then we will take a cable car down the mountain and ride back to the city.
Day 2
Guilin to Longsheng (B, L)
Route: Biking to Longsheng terraced paddies, drive to Ping'an village
Sightseeing: Ping'an village, the Terraces Paddies
Today is a most strenuous day of biking; we will ride around 70 kms from the city of Guilin to the foot of the terraced paddies of Longsheng. For the most part we will be riding uphill but the beautiful landscape will rewards us greatly for our hard work.
After arrival, we will park our bikes at the foot of Longji and then drive to Ping'an Village where we will admire the fantastic terraced paddies on the mountains. Ping'an minority village is over 300 years old and in the wooden lodges 200 families are still living in harmony with nature. The Terraces Paddies are always so beautiful in a year. In summer the paddies are a lush green and the rice sways in the gentle breeze, in autumn they turn a golden yellow, in winter they are often blanketed in a light covering of snow and in spring the waterlogged rice fields sparkle in the sunlight. It always makes you breathtaking when standing on the top of the mountains and look down the valley.
Day 3
Longsheng to Guilin (B, L)
Route: Hike from Ping'an Village to Dazhai village, ride to Guilin
After breakfast, we will start our 4 hour hike from Ping'an village to Dazhai village through the peaceful countryside scenery, taking in the fragrance of the trees and grass and enjoying the sight of the non-stop terraced paddies and the local ladies washing their clothes in the stream.
Have lunch in Dazhai, then we will drive to pick up our bikes and then ride downhill back to Guilin.
Day 4
Guilin to Yangshuo (B, L)
Route: Li River Cruise from Guilin to Xingping village, biking to Fuli village, biking to Yangshuo
Sightseeing: Li River Cruise, Xingping Village, Fuli Village
After breakfast, we will drive about half an hour from Guilin to the pier and then start our Li River Cruise; during the cruise, we will enjoy the green mountains and their reflections, the bamboo rafts and the cormorants standing on them.
Disembark in the 800 year old town of Xingping where we have our lunch in a local restaurant by the river and then start our 30 km ride to Yangshuo. Xingping is 63 km (39 miles) from Guilin and 25 km (15.5 miles) from Yangshuo, on the east bank of the river. The town is surrounded by enthralling scenery. Both Mural Hill and Yellow Cloth Shoal belong to this scenic area.
On the way, we will take a short stop in the village of Fuli. Fuli Town is home to Liusan Jie, the famous light show has the background from this old town which is over 1000 years. There are many old houses in the old street which you can peak into and see the simple lives there. All the traditional new years decorations which remain in town for the entire year.
Day 5
Biking in Yangshuo (B, L)
Sightseeing: Puyi Village, Moon Hill, Yulong River
Today, we will ride from the town of Yangshuo, heading along the Li River to another small village in Puyi. Located southwest of Yangshuo, Puyi is the highlight for a long distance bike lover even though it is a small old town. Cycling along the Li River via the villages of Mushan, Doutou, Li Jia, Liugong and Da Bu Tou before getting to Puyi is the good way to enjoy your day. When you get there, you can see many Ming and Qing dynasty buildings kept well still up to this day. It is also the destination for taking a kayak from Fuli.
At lunch time, we will get to the foot of Moon Hill and enjoy the local flavor over lunch with a local family. Moon Hill, named for the crescent shaped cave running through the moon. The journey up to the summit is an arduous one which covers 800 steep steps. The scenery overlooking the countryside through the half moon, however, is well worth the trek, which is probably the best you will get in the area.
Then we will cycle along the Yulong River. The Yulong River, also called Dragon River and this River Valley is said to rival Li River Scenic Area in beauty and prestige. The part of the river that stretches from Yulong Bridge in Baisha Town, to Gongnong Bridge near the Big Banyan Tree, is known as the Yulong River Scenic Area, and includes some spectacular scenic views along each river bank. The languid river is surrounded by a primitive, but pure, natural landscape, combined with green bamboo forests and rolling hills.
In the afternoon, we ride back to Yangshuo.

I have just returned from a very enjoyable 3 week trip to China. I had previously travelled with VISIT OUR CHINA to Xiamen n Shantou in 2024. The wonderful experience then led me to book again with VOC n I was given the most exceptional service by Leo. Throughout the months of planning n customising my itinerary to my family's varied needs n interests, Leo was extremely patient, responsive (even through weekends) n always efficient. Throughout our tour of Shenzhen, Changsha, Guangzhou, Zhangjiajie, Furong, Fenghuang n Guilin, Leo checked in on us at each of the destinations making sure that we were OK. I have travelled widely n dealt with many travel agents but none have thus far, fared so well as VOC. Leo's personal attention n excellent English make communication so easy n painless. I have recommended VOC to friends n will continue to do so because they are truly worthy. I know that for all my future trips to China, VOC will always be my go-to. Thank u Leo for making our holiday so memorable.

Had an amazing experience with visitourchina during my recent tour to Zhangjiajie. Lisa was very helpful and catered to all my requests for the tour. We wished we had more days to see more of Zhangjiajie. As we are travelling with my elderly parents, we requested for more elderly-friendly itinerary in Zhangjiajie. Even though the trip is still a bit tough for my mum as she has knee problems, my family still enjoyed the tour. Special thank you to Lisa and Max, our guide.

How to navigate China for the second time after 45 years for a couple over 70 years old? We spent part of our honeymoon in China in 1978 together with a Spanish speaking tour group when China just opened its door to the outside world. It was the era of "Friendship stores" and "food ration coupons". Tourists could only shop at government designated stores and the ordinary local people lived on rationed food, notwithstanding, tourists were treated with the highest honor and the best of everything including food. By then, the main transportation tool in cities were bicycles. From balconies of hotels, we saw never ending long queue of people on bicycles heading to work every morning. Since then, China has developed into a super modern and industrialized country. Shopping is a bliss nowadays. Motorized vehicles and lots of EV has replaced a huge part of the fleet of human-driven bicycles since. Infrastructure-wise China is the pioneer nowadays. Over the years, the only retained memories are the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and the Pandas. There was an incident which I could not forget either. We went to a theater at night for an opera and I lost my wallet with all my documents and some money ( a small fortune for the Chinese people by then). I was very nervous and didn't know what to do. When we got back to the hotel, my wallet was waiting for me at the reception. Somebody found it at the theatre and sent it to the hotel where we were lodged. Everything was back, nothing missing. Again, it was 1978! Impressed! So, we wanted to visit China again to revive the lost sweet memories and hoping to gain more of them. Being seniors, we don't have the energy to follow a vigorous group tour anymore. Could we plan and schedule our own tour in this wonderland like the modern China? The answer is simple, No! I don't know the language well enough and have no knowledge of the city areas for choices like accommodations and transportations. In order to travel safely, efficient...
