Zhouzhuang

Located in east China's Jiangsu Province, Zhouzhuang is a popular destination and one of the most famous water townships in China, noted for its rich cultural legacy, well-preserved, old-style houses and elegant waterside landscapes.

During the Shanghai Expo, Zhouzhuang is holding a series of travel-related events to attract more visitors. On May 3, the United Nations Choir gave a performance here, and many other art troupes will present shows here.

Travel tips Tickets: 100 yuan for a day travel, 80 yuan for night travel

Mudu

Located in Suzhou City of Jiangsu Province, Mudu is a town with a long history and is popular for its natural beauty. Mudu was a bustling commercial town in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty visited Mudu during his six inspections of southern China. Today, it is still the most prosperous business hub in Suzhou and attracts tourists from around the world for its rare and fine scenery.

In late April, Mudu held an international tour festival in order to draw Expo visitors.

Zhujiajiao

Zhujiajiao is a water village located on the outskirts of Shanghai. It is known as "The Venice of China" and attracts visitors from downtown Shanghai.

Zhujiajiao is an AAAA-rated tourist attraction with various scenic spots. A private garden called Ke Zhi, which occupies 96.7 acres, is a good example. Old historical buildings such as banks and even a Qing Dynasty post office can still be found here today. Dian Shan Hill, famous around Shanghai, offers a scenic vista for looking out over Dian Shan Lake. Numerous birds inhabit the area year-round.

Fengjing

Located southwest of Shanghai, Fengjing is known for its Ming and Qing Dynasty-style houses.

Fengjing's North Street displays a well-preserved historical and cultural heritage. In addition, Fengjing has been rich in cultural celebrities since ancient times. In order to promote the local heritage, during the Shanghai Expo, Fengjing is presenting historical performances showing how its ancestors have studied hard to make various academic achievements.

Fengjing is also a cradle of folk handicrafts such as carving, paper-cutting and embroidery.

Travel tips Tickets: 50 yuan for entry, 100 yuan for night visit

Tongli

Tongli has been given the nickname "Venice of the East" for its functional canal system. Locals live harmoniously with the many rivers and canals running through the ancient township. Moreover, the watery landscape has also made Tongli a favored travel destination among city dwellers from nearby Shanghai and Suzhou.

Travel tips Tickets: 80 yuan

Transportation: boat rentals cost 80 yuan each for a 30-minute ride on a boat for eight people.
