Over 120 museums in Shanghai to open for free during three-day celebration
Museums in Shanghai are offering a range of special deals to visitors in the coming days to celebrate International Museum Day on May 18.
During the three-day celebration, i.e. from May 17 to 19, over 120 public and private-funded venues in Shanghai will open free of charge. The number taking part in the promotion is about 20 more than last year, with the China Maritime Museum, Aurora Museum and Shanghai Auto Museum among the new additions.
On May 18, 40 museums will extend their hours to remain open until 9pm. That evening, many museums will host special cultural activities, such as lectures, film screenings and a Peking Opera performance.
