Tibet Stops Travel Service from June to July, 2011

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of liberation of Tibet Autonomous Region, ceremonious activities will be held in the region from June to July, 2011. To guarantee a successful celebration, travel service in the region will thoroughly stop for about two months, during which the region will not be opened to tourists. The travel service in the region is estimated to resume from August of 2011.
 

For travelers who have made a plan to Tibet during the celebration time, it is suggested to delay their travel date or adjust their travel itineraries. And for tourists who plan to visit Tibetan people and culture, it is recommended to visit Shangri-la (Zhongdian of Yunnan Province), which is adjacent to Tibet and is also a picturesque region where the Tibetan Minority live.
