Mercedes-Benz Arena Unveiled in Shanghai
updated: 2010-11-09
The Shanghai World Expo Culture Center has been reopened as the Mercedes-Benz Arena, the car giant's first sponsored entertainment arena outside Germany.
The 18,000-seat arena, which includes 82 luxury boxes, is slated to feature world-class events including performing arts, sports, family entertainment, and is expected become a landmark in the city of Shanghai. It is seen as Shanghai's equivalent to venues such as London's O2 Arena and the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Mercedes-Benz Arena will open with a two month program of events commencing with concerts featuring Faye Wong, Jacky Cheung, and what is billed as the largest family show in the world: "Walking With Dinosaurs."
A grand opening ceremony will be held on January 15, 2011 Mercedes-Benz Arena Grand Opening Ceremony with high profile events celebrating Mercedes-Benz's 115th global anniversary.
