Day 1

Xi'an / Dunhuang

Transfer via: overnight train – on our arrangement

Pick you up from the appointed site of Xi'an (hotel, airport, railway station), then you will be transferred to Xi'an railway Station and take overnight train No.K591 (10:56am - next day 9:30am) for Dunhuang.

Sightseeing: Dunhuang Mogao Caves, Dunhuang Museum

Arrival in Dunhuang, you will be met by your local guide and then be transferred to your hotel in Dunhuang.

After lunch, we will drive to Dunhuang Mogao Caves, also known as "Thousand Buddha Grottoes". They are located at the rock side of the Singing Sand Mountain in Dunhuang city of Gansu Province. The 3 or 4 tier grottoes extend 1.6 kilometers. According to historical records, the Mogao Caves were carved in 366 AD. There are 492 grottoes in existence with some 45,000 square meters of murals, and 415 painted clay figures.

Then visit Dunhuang Museum. It is a local museum for housing the cultural relics that were excavated in the Dunhuang area. Now there are over 4000 historical items contained in the museum. The museum is divided into four exhibition halls.

Sightseeing: Mingsha Shan & Yueya Quan

After breakfast, we will drive to visit Mingsha Shan and Yueya Quan. Located at the northern foot of the Singing Sand Mountains in the southern suburbs of Dunhuang City, the Crescent Moon Spring and Singing Sand Mountains scenic spots are 7 kilometers away from downtown Dunhuang and cover a total area of around 200 square kilometers.

The Singing Sand Mountains and Crescent Moon Spring are twin sisters of natural beauty in the wild Gobi Desert. The sand mountain sings because it is divine while the spring is beautiful because it is miracle. Tourists get thrilled and distracted no matter when they have a bird's-eye-view of the beautiful sand dunes from the top of the mountain or wander beside the clear spring. It's no surprise to have the saying that Singing Sand Mountains helps people free from all worries and Crescent Moon Spring purifies people's minds.

You will have a free afternoon and enjoy yourself in Dunhuang on your own.

Day 4

Dunhuang / Xi'an (B)

Transfer via: overnight train - on our arrangement

This morning, you will be transferred to Dunhuang railway station and take the overnight train No.592 (09:34am - next day 09:15) for Xi'an.

Day 5

Arrival in Xi'an

Arrival in Xi'an at 09:25am, you will be met by the local guide and then be transferred to your hotel in Xi'an (or Xi'an Airport for your flight to next destination).
