Day 1 Suzhou ( L )
Itinerary: Full day Suzhou tour to take the rickshaw ride, Hanshan Temple, Tiger Hill, Lion Grove with lunch. (Private vehicle and guide)
You will be picked up from your hotel then start the tour.
We will enjoy the special time in taking the rickshaw ride in Suzhou city.Like the rickshaw in Beijing, here you will not see the Hutongs in Beijing but the beauty of Suzhou.The city is like a garden, a heaven, a place of everything.
We will visit the Hanshan Temple today.It is located in the west outskirts of Suzhou. The temple was first built in the Tianjian period of the Liang Dynasty (502-557). A famous monk, Hanshan, was said to have been in charge of the temple during the Tang Dynasty (618-907) so it was named after him.
Then we'll see the Tiger Hill (Huqiu). Tiger Hill is the most famous sight in Suzhou city, enjoying the reputation of "The first scenic spot in Wu area" due to its imposing beauty, including Leisure Spring, Testing Sword Rock, Third Spring, Broken-Pillar-Hall and Mountain Villa Wrapped in Emerald Green etc. With only 36 meters height and an area of 20hectares, you might think it is an artificial hill, but its history can be traced back to 2500 years ago. The Tiger Hill Pagoda in the park is the landmark of Suzhou city.
Afterwards we will drive to Lion Grove, one of the four noted gardens in Suzhou. It was first built in 1342 in the Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368).This small garden is truly exquisite in design, the rocking imaginative. Entering the garden the tourist will find stones in various interesting shapes. Look at them closely, they are lions: lying, sitting, slinking along, standing on hind legs, embracing a ball made of strips of silk. Some are linked with each other and others are not. Those who are not familiar with these caves may easily lose their way running into dead ends or walking in circles within the maze.
After the tour you will be transfered back to your hotel and finish the tour today.
