created: 2010-06-02
To celebrate Children's Day, thousands of butterflies are set free by children at the Garden of World's Flowers in Beijing on June 1, 2010.
The garden transported over ten thousand butterflies from south China's Yunnan Province especially for the occasion, said Cui Zepei, deputy manager of the garden.
Before 9 a.m. everyday this week beginning Tuesday and ending Sunday, the garden will invite children to free the butterflies from their hot houses. The activity plans to draw children close to nature, Cui added.
Children are granted free entrance to the garden on Children's Day, while adults accompanying them can purchase tickets at a discount.
