created: 2010-04-23

Hainan Provincial Price Control Administration has issued the Hainan Province Guest Room Service Pricing Regulations (Trial) with effect from April 15, 2010.

There are a total of 12 clauses included in the document and these control all aspects of pricing guest room services. They prescribe clearly the scope of application, the methods of marking prices, the major contents and requirements, formats of the numbers, supervision departments, the legal basis for penalties, and the trial dates for the regulation.

The regulations say that guest room service operators in Hainan should mark their prices clearly and should not charge other unmarked fees. Price tags should be displayed in prominent places.

This document is the first price regulation concerning guest room services in Hainan province.

Earlier, Hainan province's price control, tourism, industry and commerce departments held a press conference, announcing that during the Labor Day holiday from May 1 to 3, 2010, price increases should not be more than 50% compared based on the actual selling prices on April 12, 2010. This price restraint measure will cover hotels including inns and training centers in Haikou, Sanya, Qionghai, Wanning and Baoting.
