Tulip festival to open in Beijing

created: 2010-03-12

The first tulip cultural festival will take place at Beijing International Flower Port in mid-April 2010. With tulips blooming for spring, the area will be bathed in a sea of color and fragrance.

There are two exhibition areas in the park: the outdoor area and the indoor area. In the outdoor exhibition area, more than 3 million tulips of 70 varieties imported from Holland will be displayed. Visitors can also appreciate garden designs with different themes, including Peking Opera masks and the Dutch fairytale "Thumbelina."

The first lily flower show in China will be held in the indoor exhibition area in the park, where 200,000 lilies of 89 varieties will greet tourists in full bloom.

As a functional area of the Seventh Flower Expo in 2009, the Beijing International Flower Port is located in Yangzhen Town, Shunyi District. It is the biggest flower industry park in Beijing, with a planned area of 4 square kilometers. The park has been divided into several sections: a producing section, exhibition section, research and development and services section and a metropolitan agriculture tourism section.
