Turkish Airlines And Asiana Codeshare Increases Routes To China

Turkish Airlines has signed a new codeshare agreement with Asiana Airlines from South Korea as part of an expansion program, and passengers from Istanbul will be able to enjoy the convenience of Asiana's network of connections to China and South Korea, as well as other popular destinations in Japan and South-East Asia.
The new code share agreement, which will go into effect on October 25, 2009, will enable passengers from Seoul to connect on Turkish Airlines' network to any of its 119 international destinations including routes to Turkey, Europe, North America, South America, Russia, Central Asia and the Middle East.
Passengers from Istanbul will also be able to enjoy the convenience of Asiana Airlines' wide network of connections to South Korea, and other popular destinations in Japan, China and South-East Asia. Asiana Airlines' network covers 82 international destinations.
Temel Kotil, the CEO of Turkish Airlines, said that the airline was delighted to conclude a code-share arrangement with Asiana Airways and this was a testament to the growing relationship between Turkish Airlines and Asiana Airways. He added that they would make every effort to maximize the opportunities offered by the combined network.
Young-Doo Yoon, the CEO of Asiana Airlines, said that Asiana Airlines and Turkish Airlines would develop a strong network through code-sharing and create synergy and he hoped that collaboration between both airlines would extend in all areas.
The two airlines' passengers would also benefit from the reciprocal frequent flyer program between Asiana Airlines' Asiana Club and Turkish Airlines' Miles and Smiles.
