From July 1, 2009, to December 31, 2009, all scenic sites in Anyang, including the Shang dynasty capital Yinxu, will be free to visitors holding foreign passports.
Anyang, in Henan province, is one of China's eight ancient capitals and has a history going back more than 3,300 years. It is the origin of the oracle bone script and Zhouyi, and now has one world heritage site and four national AAAA level sites.
Anyang began to promote the city's tourism features of landscape, history and culture this year. Previously it gave out tickets for its scenic spots worth 10 million yuan to domestic tourists, including those from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.
