HK Disneyland to Launch New Theme Park

The Hong Kong Disneyland will open Saturday a new theme park named Grizzly Gulch, which will offer tourists an unexpected runaway adventure through Wild West attractions. 

Grizzly Gulch, the largest themed area in Disneyland's expansion project, creates a setting of bustling western Golden Rush town of grizzly Gulch. 

Innovative Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars takes guests on a runaway adventure which features forward launches, backward dashes, and rapid turns and crisscrosses in the themed area. 

Hong Kong Disneyland's expansion includes the opening of Toy Story Land last year, Grizzly Gulch and the final installment of Mystic Point in 2013. 

The three themed areas will "increase the size of the park by more than 25 percent," Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts,said Friday at the opening ceremony of Grizzly Gulch. Hong Kong Chief Executive CY Leung also attended the ceremony. 

The story of Grizzly Gulch, which was created exclusively for Hong Kong Disneyland, begins with a family of grizzly bears scratching their backs against a boulder on Big Grizzly Mountain. 

The scratching wore down the surface of the rock and revealed the gold inside, which attracted ever-increasing numbers of people to Grizzly Gulch for gold mining. The town of Grizzly Gulch was established in this way. 

The Hong Kong Disneyland opened in September 2005, having received over 31 million tourists from around the world. It launched the three-phase expansion in order to boost the number of visitors.
