Bosten Lake, the largest inland freshwater lake of China, will hold the First International Reed Catkins Festival on Oct 21.
The lake, located in the southeast part of the Yanqi Basin in central Xinjiang, will host a series of cultural events to celebrate the dangling flowers for which the area is famous.
The festival will feature dance performances, a reed catkins bazaar, a photography contest, an academic forum and a food festival.
Occupying an area of 1,600 square kilometers, Bosten Lake boasts 400 thousand mu (26.7 thousand hectares) of reed catkins, one of the four largest catkins areas in China.
