Hong Kong Tourism Offers Two Smartphone Apps
Hong Kong Tourism Board has revealed that it has started two smartphone applications for tourists. When tourists take a photo of the landscape with their phones information about transport, dining options, and shopping will be shown on their phone.
The Discover Hong Kong app is jointly launched by Hong Kong Tourism Board and Cathy Pacific Airways. With the GPS and compass functions of smartphones, this app will offer detailed information about more than 100 tourist attractions, 5,000 retail stores, 2,000 restaurants, as well as shopping malls. It also provides text and audio information about four different themed travel routes through downtown Hong Kong.
This app is said to have Chinese and English versions. Users of iPhones can download the apps now from the official website of HKTB, and apps will be available for Android users in the third quarter of 2011.
