Xiamen-Lhasa Flight to Open within 2011
updated: 2011-04-19
Xiamen Airlines is scheduling to launch direct flights on the Xiamen to Lhasa route within this year, as it aims to meet demand for travel to the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region.
The carrier says that it has been preparing for the new service for more than two years, and is planning to use Boeing 737-300 aircraft on this new route.
Passengers from Xiamen will not have to transfer flights in Chengdu after the launch of the new flights, the carrier said.
The new service is expected to meet the demand for travel to Lhasa, and help complete Xiamen Airlines' network, and establish an aviation bridge linking Taiwan and Tibet.
