A book fair opened here Wednesday with over 530 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions taking part in the week-long event, reaching a new exhibitor high.

The 23rd edition of Hong Kong Book Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, is held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, and will run through July 24.
The annual book fair features more than 350 cultural events and about 300 speakers under the theme "Reading the World, We Read therefore We Know".

The fair invites authors from Hong Kong, Chinese mainland and other countries. Sessions spotlight the United Kingdom's Holly Webb, the author of more than 60 children's books, and Indian author Chetan Bhagat, whose novel Five Point Someone was adapted for the popular movie "Three Idiots".

Art Gallery named "A Journey to the Guangdong Literary World" presents South China's folk culture including Guangdong opera costumes, Lingnan-style paintings, Chaozhou woodcarving and Shiwan ceramics.

The fair also adopts face-detection technology to recommend books to visitors. Readers can activate an app to read select books and create "My Favorite Book" by choosing e-books they're interested in.

Other pavilions in the fair include Children's Paradise, English Avenue, International Cultural Village, Spirituality Zone and Teens' World. Copyright Corner offers over 6,100 books for copyright trading. The Copyright Exchange Lounge brings buyers together with exhibitors selling copyrights.
