Macao's Visitor Arrivals in Package Tours up 51.1 pct in March

Macao's visitor arrivals in package tours surged by 51.1 percent year-on-year to 754,163 in March 2012, on the basis of the figures released on Monday by the city's Statistics and Census Bureau.
 
The figure showed that visitor arrivals in package tours in March from Chinese mainland (531,096) increased by 45.8 percent year-on-year, with 174,477 coming from Guangdong Province.
 
Besides, visitors from Taiwan (70,556), Hong Kong (35,765) and Republic of Korea (28,449) soared by 163.7 percent, 87.0 percent and 42. 9 percent respectively.
 
Meanwhile, the number of local residents traveling outbound in package tours increased by 58.4 percent year-on-year to 25,410 in March. The Chinese mainland and Taiwan were the most popular tour itineraries, according to the bureau.
 
In the first quarter of 2012, visitors in package tours totaled 2,050,476, up by 45.6 percent year-on-year to account for 29.5 percent of the total visitor arrivals, which is higher than the 21.9 percent from the same period of 2011.
