Xinhua, January 18, 2012
Regular direct flights were opened between the Chinese mainland city of Huangshan and Taipei on Wednesday.
Taiwan's EVA Air is operating the new air route, with three direct flights per week, said Cheng Kuang-yuan, board chairman of the company, at an inauguration ceremony held in Huangshan.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of Taiwanese tourists visit Huangshan, with 340,000 Taiwanese tourists visiting the city in 2011, according to local tourism statistics.
Huangshan, located in east China's Anhui province, boasts the picturesque Mount Huangshan, which is a world cultural and natural heritage site. The mountain and Taiwan's Mount Ali became "sister mountains" in 2009.
