Visitor Arrivals in Tibet Hit 6.37 Million

According to the Tibet Tourism Bureau, a record number of 6.37 million tourists from home and abroad visited Tibet Autonomous Region in the first 10 months of 2010, 20.8% more than in the same period of 2009.
The bureau says that in the period from January to October, the number of inbound tourists rose 34.1% year on year to 2.04 million.
Total tourism revenue rose 45.1% from a year earlier to a record CNY6.45 billion in the first 10 months of the year, while foreign exchange income from international tourism jumped to USD93.63 million.
Per capita consumption exceeded CNY1,000 during the first 10 months, the bureau reports.
