Time flies so fast that it is time for us to welcome the brand new 2012. Looking back to the past year, we can factually remember and feel every detail of our work – overtime for handling inquiries and emails at the office in the evening, double checking and ensuring booking information with suppliers, helping customers in their course of travel with various problems by phone, etc. Most of the time we were as busy as a bee, but all of the tiredness turned into joyousness of feeling relieved finally when all these problems were successfully solved.

"A big family pork feast for the New Year" has been being the traditional customs in China  since the ancient time. In the past decade, it seemed that life of more and more Chinese was invaded by restaurants, but in recent years it is becoming the order of the day that companies and businessmen gather their stuff and partners to have an authentic pork meal at some suburb of their cities at the end of the year, creating a chance of non-working communication or of discussion about further development and cooperation in the coming year.

Let's reap them again next year!

November in Guilin was surprisingly lovely this year. I guess it realized that it’s annual harvest time of our taros and sweet potatoes in Lipu, which is about 105 km away from downtown Guilin. The interesting experience of harvesting and the delicious taros and sweet potatoes of last year still engrave on everybody’s mind, so all of us were full of enthusiasm when hearing it’s the harvest time again! Thanks to the convenient road network, 1.5 hours’ drive is enough to take us from Guilin to the farmland near the Silver Cave in Lipu County.

But if you pay a little patience, you will find that is not an arduous challenge at all. So how about making your first step of becoming a chef of Chinese dishes with us?

The Five Great Mountains of China

Yet another aspect of traditional Chinese culture I find myself completely enthralled by is ancient Chinese religion and philosophy. With a history as long as China’s, there’s little wonder how such a wide variety of colorful belief systems and practices have manifested over the ages and embedded themselves in the heart of traditional society. To be sure, each has taken shape in popular culture in their own distinct way and offer unique perspectives on the Chinese way of life, although the philosophic doctrine I seem to personally resonate with is Daoism (or Taoism).
