Palace Museum to Open Female Section

The Palace of Benevolent Tranquility (Cining Gong) used to be the residential area for empress dowager Cixi.
Western part of the Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City, will be open to the public by the year 2020, which will mark the 600th birthday of the palace.
Palace Museum in China was the only museum receiving more than 10 million tourists a year in 2012, exceeding the number of visitors of the Louvre in France. Now 52 percent of the Palace Museum is open to the public, after the western part of the Palace Museum which was called the “female world” as it was the living area of empresses and concubines being opened to the public, the area available will reach 76 percent.
