Hainan Airlines gained the "Best China Airline" and "China Airline Staff Service Excellence" awards at the Skytrax World Airline Awards in Paris on Wednesday, taking home the awards for the second consecutive year.
This is also the third time the company has been named the "Best China Airline" since 2008.
Skytrax, a British consultancy, handed out the awards Wednesday as part of the 2011 Paris Air Show. Representatives from more than 50 airlines worldwide were present at the award ceremony, which consisted of 6 categories and 60 awards.
There are only seven Skytrax five-star airlines worldwide. Besides mainland China's Hainan Airlines, the other six are Asiana Airlines (South Korea), Cathay Pacific (Hong Kong, China), Kingfisher Airlines (India), Malaysia Airlines, Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines.
Hainan Airlines started operating in 1993 in southern China's Hainan Province and has been the Chinese mainland's only Skytrax five-star airline since January 2011.
