Bullet Trains to Run Between Beijing and Chengdu

It is likely that bullet trains will run between Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, in 2011.
Domestic medias have reported that starting on January 1, 2011, a pair of a bullet trains of the CRH2E type with 16 cars will run between Beijing and Chengdu. The journey time will be reduced by eight hours to about 17 hours from the current 26 hours.
In the meantime, a bullet train of CRH1E type with 16 cars will start running between Shanghai and Chengdu on the same day.
Media reports also claimed that bullet trains will run between Beijing, Shanghai, and Chongqing.
The plans have already been submitted to the Ministry of Railway for approval.
