Turpan Food

The Turpan dishes is rather rich; Sichuan cuisine and Guangdong cuisine can be found everywhere, and the most distinctive Uygur flavored dishes and islam dishes are also the popular food. Melons and fruits are abundant in Turpan, especially the national known grapes and the side products made of grapes.

Rice Taken by Hands (手抓饭)

Rice Taken by Hands is a popular food at Rice Taken with the Handsfestivals. The main materials are fresh mutton, carrots, onions, vegetables, rice and raisins. Raisins are boiled with sliced onions, carrots and small cubes of fried beef. Rice is then added and boiled again. The ingredients are streamed for twenty minutes and then served. Before eating, one washes one’s hands three times and dries them with handkerchiefs.

Baked Mutton Kebabs (烤羊肉串)

Baked Mutton Kebabs (Kaoyangrouchuan) can be found anywhere on the streets of any city or small market town throughout Xinjiang. Migrants from Xinjiang have made these kebabs famous throughout the rest of China's major cities but naturally, the best, most authentic kebabs are only available in Xinjiang!
