Shanghai weather

Although Shanghai is not directly next to the sea (it is only 40 kilometers to the ocean), the proximity of the river mouth of the Yangzi (20 kilometers) makes a high indexes of dampness in Shanghai all year round. Shanghai belongs to subtropical humid climate with its own features: in winter, the winds from Siberia cause big drop of temperatures and makes one or two days of snows every year, in summer, the temperatures are very high and the air is of great humidity, the people living in Shanghai will have a hard time to pass this period. Can you imagine how a city likes with the highest temperature of 39 oC and the lowest of -5 oC?

Sometimes soakers and notable summer storms occurs in Shanghai. In addition, don’t feel strange if you find typhoons there, however not too much of them has damaged the city. The best season of the year is the spring and also the autumn; travelers may choose April, June, July, August and September for their vacations to Shanghai. They will enjoy the sunny and dry days most of the time. Shanghai exposed 1778 hours to the sun each year and the period of rainfalls are mainly in May and in autumn, affected by the monsoons.

Clothes for traveling to Shanghai:
Clothes like jacket and jersey are suggested for the spring (from March to the end of May) and autumn (from September to November). In the summer, take very little clothes (from June to August). Coats and clothes of wool are necessary for the winter (from December to February). Since there are many rainfalls during the periods between spring, summer and autumn, is advisable to take raincoat or umbrellas with you.
