Although Shanghai is not directly next to the sea (it is only 40 kilometers to the ocean), the proximity of the river mouth of the Yangzi (20 kilometers) makes a high indexes of dampness in Shanghai all year round. Shanghai belongs to subtropical humid climate with its own features: in winter, the winds from Siberia cause big drop of temperatures and makes one or two days of snows every year, in summer, the temperatures are very high and the air is of great humidity, the people living in Shanghai will have a hard time to pass this period. Clothes for traveling to Shanghai:

Coats and clothes of wool are necessary for the winter (from December to February). Since there are many rainfalls during the periods between spring, summer and autumn, is advisable to take raincoat or umbrellas with you.
