Hong Kong Food

Hong Kong has its own authentic food and integrates international cuisine. Cantonese cuisine and seafood is popular in Hong Kong.

The famous restaurants in Hong Kong are mostly located in the central district and Tsimshatsui. French cuisine is very popular. Japanese, Korean, Thai and Italian cuisines are very easy to be found.

Hong Kong, tourists may also taste dishes that are rarely found in mainland China, such as Mediterranean, Nepalese, Spanish, Argentinean, Russian, Australian, Indian, Cuban and American cuisine. Most restaurants open early and close late so good food can always be found. For exquisite dining you should visit one of the fine hotels, which often offer spectacular views, such as The Felix at The Peninsula.

Hong Kong style food
You can enjoy authentic Hong Kong coffee milk at the teahouses of Hong Kong. Most of the teahouses and cafés are at Lee Theatre Plaza, Times Square and Jardine’s crescent in Causeway bay.

There are many snacks on Temple Street such as Wonton noodles and Beef balls, and sweet and sour meat. The best Cantonese dishes to try are Dim Sum (small steamed dishes).

Seafood restaurants
Many restaurants serving fresh seafood can be found in Sai Kung and on Lamma Island. The sea view restaurants at Stanley are very distinctive. There are Chinese restaurants and French restaurants. Eat in the open air and enjoy the melody of the sea!

Dim Sum (点心)

Dim Sum is the most famous in the long list of dishes in a Hongkong meal. Impressively shaped, bite-size portions of dumplings with lightly seasoned fillings of meat and seafish, fluffy buns with various fillings and glutinous rice - all deliciously steamed - just ignite the tastebuds.

Hawker Food (路边摊)

Hawkers register their presence in every Asian country and they are there in Hong Kong too. Visitors can savour varieties of hawker food along the streets and night markets. Popular dishes sold by these hawkers are wantan noodle, beef noodle, soy bean curd and fishballs on sticks.
