Jiuzhaigou Valley in Sichuan Province is a key national natural reserve that listed into the world heritage sites with five wonders, colorful forest is one of which. Owing to the unique ecosystem and a temperate climate in the area, autumn is Jiuzhaigou Valley's most intoxicate season with a riots of colors mirroring in the bright blue waters reflecting the clear blue sky and bright white clouds. Cordially crowned as a fairyland on earth, the valley is an authentic enormous color kingdom with its highlight- the Wuhua Lake (五花海, colorful lake), which is the proud and essence of the valley that blended light yellow, blackish green, mazarine, dark blue … into a single water area.

Four most famed ancient towns in Guangxi

1. Daxu Ancient Town (大圩古镇), Guilin

Daxu Ancient Town is the first to be mentioned as one of the four most famed ancient towns in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Due to its preferable location on the northern bank of Li River, some 23 km southeast of Guilin, Daxu Ancient Town enjoys a humid subtropical climate with beautiful sceneries. Originally built in 200AD with a history over 1800 years, the town already got its fame as one of the four fair towns in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The preserved residences and alleyways we can see today in the village are mostly in the styles of Ming and Qing (1636-1911) dynasties with aged black bricks and grey tiles, standing on the old stone-paved streets.

That is just an au revoir - Sophie's leaving VOC

The time has come for me to write my farewell blog article and say goodbye to you all dear bloggers and lovers of China. But I would start it all by replacing the word "farewell" by a more suitable one: "goodbye" or – like I would say in French – "au revoir", for I believe there’s no real end at such an experience I had here with all the VisitOurChina.com team.

Last weekend, VisitOurChina’s team gathered to spend an amazing day strolling about Guilin vicinity to the village of MaoJia Cun (毛家村) where lies a hidden lotus pond and a gorgeous preserved nature. Regarding this wonderful day we had there all together, we cannot help but sharing it with you because we are also your friends in China and that is so much fun!

I left my heart in Sanya…

Ha, Sanya…just hearing this name today makes me remember the great days I spent there with some of my Russian friends! Leaving the chilling weather of Guilin in mid January (yes, Guilin can be freezing and icy believe me!) for the southernmost tip of China was one of the best decision and winter vacation I ever had, spent between beach times, fresh seafood and coconuts…that's all about Sanya (三亚). Before coming to China, I never heard about that city or even the possibility that China could have any tropical islands and white sand beaches. Naïve enough, I was just amazed by the trip I made to this gorgeous seaside city.

Because travelling is passion…

It all started on one afternoon when, sat on a bench at GXNU (Guangxi Normal University) having a juice with some Costa Rican friends, we decided to move away for the next coming weekend and leave – the though beautiful – Guilin city for one day or so with just a backpack and the unforgettable Lonely Planet guide to have fun. (I extremely recommend that guide, it helped me a lot since I started to travel in China 4 years ago!).

Li River Crown Cave: a "Chinese spotlight" on ancient rock formations

Finding some interesting activities around Guilin vicinity is one of the easiest things to do, the topography and natural sceneries of this area of China being such a jewel. Living in Guilin in order to study Chinese, I woke up on a Saturday morning with no plans at all for the day except going out with friends and have some good time. Our decision was to discover all together a famous scenic spot of the city that our teachers were talking about during the lessons: the Li River Crown Cave (Guanyan, 冠岩). Bottle of water and snacks checked, we left by bus - the easiest way I've taken so far to travel in Guangxi Province - for the scenic area is located at about 29 km downstream from Guilin city, on the banks of the Li River.
