See the city on foot While many visitors come to Guilin to enjoy the amazing beautiful cityscape not everyone get manages to get out of their coach and walk around the city; the best way to experience Guilin is defiantly by foot. It was that time of year when everyone gets together and celebrates Christmas; I was no different, this was the second time that I had celebrated Christmas in China and  this time round I headed to the Shangri-la with some American classmates on Christmas Eve, with Christmas Day fully booked out; the Shangri-la is the latest addition to Guilin's cultural landscape, a beautifully designed and constructed hotel, the interior was also remarkably designed with beautiful views over the Li River distant pagodas, this is defiantly the must stay place in Guilin now.

Top 1: Medog Walking Track - experience an ancient county by foot

Medog is famous as one of China's most popular walking tracks for its undeveloped roads. In Tibetan Medog means "hidden lotus flower". This winding Tibetan track takes about 9 days to walk from Linzhi to 80K and take trekkers through some of Tibet's most picturesque plateau landscape. The often erratic weather and difficult walking conditions are best suited to advanced hikers.

Photo Tour Experience in Guilin: a new phenomenon One of my good friends in Guilin is a man from Belgium, an unassuming, softly-spoken man who has one discerning feature: his love of photography and his desire to make 'custom photo tours' one of the principle reasons for travelling in China.Taking photos while travelling is not a new concept, indeed photography has been an inseparable part of travel since commercial touring began; the new phenomenon is tourists visiting a region with the express purpose of capturing the environment through a lens. Guilin is a perfect example; a easily accessible tourists destination, which has not been over-developed and a wide-range of locations perfectly suited to photography: Li River, Longsheng's Longji Rice Terraces, Yangshuo's vibrant West Street and rural landscape surrounding it, or simple the amazing karsts that are dotted all throughout the city of Guilin and its surrounding counties....
