Things you cannot miss in Zhangjiajie

  • Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge: It was constructed without any steel concrete pier, and it stretches about 430 meters across a canyon at width of 6 meters, with a dizzying height of some 300 meters above the impressive Zhangjiajie scenery, this skywalk is set to smash records to be the world’s longest and highest glass-bottomed bridge and easily dwarfs America’s Grand Canyon Skywalk. This first inclined-pulling glass bridge across canyon in the world is also the first one that adopts new composite materials which used in aerospace industry.
  • Hallelujah Mountain: Formerly called Southern Sky Pillar, the mountain changed name after its amazing scenery was adopted in the movie AVATAR. Located in Yuanjiajie Scenic Area of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Hallelujah Mountain arises 1074 meters above sea level and has a height of 150 meters or so. In the shape of a pillar “connecting heaven and earth”, this peak serves as a defining geographical landmark of Yuanjiajie Scenic Area.
  • Bailong Lift: It is listed in the Guinness World Records for it is the fastest (1 minute and 28 seconds one way) and highest (326 meters) outdoor elevator with the maximum loading capacity (approx. 6,000pax per hour). Though the modern steel staff might be a bit incompatible with nature, the beautiful peaks in arrays, paddy fields and houses of local ethnic minorities before eyes will surely shock each and every visitor.
  • Tianmen Mountain Cableway: It is the longest alpine passenger cableway in the world, starting from the city center of Zhangjiajie to the 'Hanging Garden' on the peak of Tianmen Mountain, the length of it is 7455 meters. Three aid supports were constructed to the cableway, in addition, lightning protection equipments were installed, providing it a most complete and advanced rescue system among cableways in the world. The great man-made project will bring you a memorable experience seeing the kaleidoscopic landscapes.
  • Tianmen Glass Plank Road: With the highest altitude of some 1430 meters, the glass walkway is 60 meters long and 1.6 meters wide. It is another masterpiece in the Tianmen Mountain scenic area after the Ghost-valley Plank Road which was built on cliff, the Glass Viewing Platform, and the wooden suspension bridge spanning a canyon. The excitement on Tianmen Glass Plank Road almost can be comparable to the America’s Grand Canyon Skywalk, thus it is reputed as the "Skywalk of the East".
