Today Jay and I have Li River Cruise from morning to the noon, and strolling around the West Street in Yangshuo. After back to Guilin downtown, we go toElephant Trunk Hill and the Love Island.
Start our Day 7 in China with Julie to Longsheng where there is the famousTerraced Fields. And we also had a night cruise in Guilin.This cruise will give you a new and deeper impression of Guilin which you won't find in the daytime.
Today we depart pretty much on our own for Guilin by train. We meet Julie, the lady who is our local guide in Guilin, and Sandy.It was so good to finally meet Sandy after our first correspondence some 2 1/2 years ago. We dined at the hotel restaurant.

Guilin rice noodle is a traditional snack of the Han nationality (China's main nationality) with long history. Due to its unique flavor, it is very popular among locals as well as people who come to visit Guilin. Nowadays because of installing machines to replace manual labor, rice noodle can be produced in great amount every early morning, so it becomes cheap and serves as breakfast for most Guilin people in the morning.
Generally the Li River cruise refers to the part from Guilin City (Zhujiang or Mt. Mopan Pier) to Yangshuo County. A new route on Li River, i.e. from Yangshuo to Pingle (a county also belongs to Guilin), was formally opened in April this year. Beautiful sceneries, delicious food, good tour organization...the boat tour from Yangshuo to Pingle on Li River is really worth a try during your tour in Guilin.
Longsheng County in Guilin is well-known for marvelous terraced rice fields and rich cultures of ethnic minorities. Locals respect the land they living by and generally express their deep reverence through various activities, many festivals are consequently celebrated in the area throughout a year. Combing Rice Seedling Festival is one among these colorful activities. As a traditional folk festival in Longji Rice Terraces scenic area, it is held around the Grain in Ear (one of the 24 solar terms) every year.
