In the morning we will start the tour with Kim Tin Walled Village. In 1899, when the New Territories was leased to British army, the British soldiers met the resisting of the local people. Today, as Kim Tin Walled Village is a frequent destination for foreign visitors, there are old men in country clothes to take photo with in front of the village.
Our next stop will be Man Mo Temple, which is among the oldest and best-known temples in the territory. It was built in 1848, during the early years of British rule in Hong Kong. Though it's been rebuilt a number of times, much of the original structure still remains.
Finally we will see Lam Tsuen Wishing Tree, one of Hong Kong's most famous tourist attractions. It is usually crowded during the Chinese New Year holidays and seems to be covered in deep crimson colors whenever seen from a distance. Only up close, do you realize that the Wishing Tree is actually laden with wishes written on bright red paper. Sightseeing: Dujiangyan Irrigation Center, Mt Qingcheng, Shangqing Temple, Tianshi Temple
We will start today's tour with a visit of Dujiangyan Irrigation Center. In China, Chengdu is always praised as the Tian Fu Zhi Guo, which means 'Nature's Storehouse'. Over 2,200 years ago, the city was threatened by the frequent floods caused by flooding of the Minjiang River. Li Bing, a local official of Sichuan Province at that time decided to construct an irrigation system on the Minjiang River to prevent flooding. After a lengthy study and a lot of hard work by the local people, the great Dujiangyan Irrigation Project was completed.
Then we will head to Mt. Qingcheng, the birthplace of Taoism, which is celebrated in a series of ancient temples. Originally called Old Man Mountain, it is located in the southwest of Dujiangyan City, Sichuan Province, and covers an area of some 100 kilometers, the highest peak being 1600 meters above sea level. Surrounded by countless peaks and densely covered by tall ancient trees, the mountain is known as the most secluded mountain in China.
Afterwards we will visit Shangqing Temple and Tianshi Temple.
