Pit No.2: mysterious array of troops

This pit is located 20 miles north of the Pit No.1 and is the essential part and the nucleus force of all the buried pits. The discovery of the Pit No.2 has revealed the mystery of ancient Chinese array of troops. The hall in this pit is the largest hall with ancient relics in China and the function of it is also the most complete. Tourists can both visit part of the pit and witness the excavated job of Pit No.2 since the hall of it was built special.

Covering about 6000 square meters in a try square shape, Pit No.2 has more complex troop and more kinds of armies than the Pit No.1. Totally, there are more than 1300 warriors and horses, more than 80 war chariots and lots of metal weapons. Soldiers in this pit are composed of cavalry, infantry, crossbowmen and war chariots, among which the general warriors, pummeled horse warriors and kneeling shooting warriors are discovered for the first time.

This area can be divided into 4 relative units and the combining method accords with the military theory of Sunbin, a famous strategist in ancient China. The four squads are mixed combination of war chariots, cavalries and crossbowmen, making Pit No.2 unassailable.

The first unit-Crossbowman Warrior Squad:

This unit is the projecting part in the east, composed by kneeling and standing crossbowmen warriors. In total, there are 60 crossbow warriors standing in the hallway around and 160 kneeling crossbowmen warriors facing east in the center of the hall. The standing crossbowmen warriors are altered with kneeling crossbowmen warriors.

The second unit-Chariot Commander Warrior Squad composed by Horse-drawn Chariot:

This unit is at the right of the hall, composed by 64 war chariots (There are only remains for the wooden chariots left.) in 8 rows. There are 4 terracotta horses as big as the real ones in front of each chariot, and 3 warriors in a row behind. The middle one is the driver while the left two are holding long handle weapons.
