As the royal wharf in the ancient China, the Wharf of Purple Bamboo Bend is seated inside the Park of Purple Bamboo Courtyard. Even nowadays, by the bank of the bend still stand this ONLY royal wharf and imperial temporary dwelling palaces. In Qing Dynasty, Empress Dowager Cixi once started off from here to the Summer Palace to avoid the summer heat by mini steam-engine train.
