Shigatse
Food
There is no shortage of good restaurants in Shigatse, although Tibetan food does take some getting used to. It is said that food here is generally better than that in Lhasa and so expect to pay a bit more for this treat! Most restaurants here serve either Tibetan food, such as tsampa and momo, or Chinese, the most typical being Sichuan style. Adventurous tourists may try yak heart or pig trotters and ears. The Tenzin Restaurant on the ground floor of the Tenzin Hotel, which is run by a Chinese couple, serves delicious Sichuan food. Another good place is the Gongkar Tibetan Restaurant to the west of the Sang Zhu Zi Hotel. There are a few decent Tibetan restaurants east of the Orchard Hotel.
