Legend about Huangdi

Huangdi Mausoleum

Huangdi was a great clan leader by the end of the Primitive Society of China. He created weapons from jade, making boats, vehicles and bows; His wife could raise silkworms; his official historian Canjie created characters; his minister Darao created calendar; and his musical official Linglun created musical instruments. He made great contribution to make China one of the four ancient civilized countries.

Huangdi is also known for punishing the evils and unifying the Chinese nation for the first time. It was said that Huangdi lived for 118 years. One time during his cruise in He’nan, a yellow dragon fell from the sky after a crack of thunder. The yellow dragon said to Huangdi “You have completed your mission, please return to the heaven with me now.” Knowing the order was infrangible, Huangdi stepped on the back of the dragon. When flying across the Qiaoshan Mountain of Shannxi, Huangdi asked to conciliate his people. After knowing this, people came from all places and cried for it. The yellow dragon urged him time and again, so Huangdi stepped on its back again. People tried to keep Huangdi by dragging his lappet. Finally, the yellow dragon took Huangdi away, only left his clothes. Then people buried Huangdi’s clothes in the Qiaoshan Mountain and made a tomb for Huangdi.
