Daxu Ancient Town

Main sights here includes stone-paved streets, Wanshou Bridge( Longevity Bridge), ancient buildings and the century-old dock. The street measuring 2.5 kilometers in length and 2 meters in width stretches through the town. This narrow street with its stone bases worn shiny by time and the many visitors are full of character. Wanshou Bridge is a single-arched bridge built in the Ming Dynasty. Along the river stands many traditional buildings well preserved from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. These wooden architectures with colorfully decorated eaves, elegantly carved doors and windows are still homes of the many locals. A stroll along will afford a leisurely glimpse into the traditional courtyard where granny are sometimes seen telling story to a huddle of small kids. 13 docks have been built from the Ming Dynasty, among which five well preserved ones still work well.

Perching on the northern bank of Li River, the ancient town keeps in its antique style from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). A flagging street, lined with old residences, shops and stalls, runs two kilometers along the river bank through the town. Some well-preserved residences hidden behind the street door may give you surprises you when you occasionally explore further into a shop. These are quarters for businessmen in the past times. Have a try on various dumping snacks on the stalls or peddle cars along the street. Some will surprise you with both its taste and cheap price. People in the town are very kind to tourists.

The town is really a sight off-the-beaten track. Opposite the town on the other side of the river, a millstone-like rock with the running waters creates the scene of Grinding Grain.

Maozhou, a small island on the Li River. Here you will enjoy a meal prepared by local farmer with various delicacies and experience the life on the island by picking up the fruit and crops and talking with the locals.
