Sorry for the delay. We were a bit busy after returning from China. We went to United States to visit our nephew and then most recently went to another city in Canada where our elder son lives.
Overall our tour in China from start to finish went very well. All our tour guides were very curtious, knowledgeable and friendly. China is a vast country with a rich history and culture. We enjoyed our trip very much. We also gained a better understanding of China and its people through this tour.
A visit to China will always include the most famous places like The Forbidden City, The Great Wall and Terra Cotta Warriors. However, we were pleasantly surprised to see the Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces. It is like a work of art. This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Thank you for including the Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces in our itinerary. The second most beautiful thing during our trip is the Reed Flute Cave. Actually, the whole Guilin is very nicely decorated so the tourists can enjoy the many things that Guilin has to offer. The Li river cruise was fantastic as well. However, there is another reason we liked Guilin very much is because of our tour guide, Jasemine. She is extremely intelligent, friendly and flexible enough to make us happy. With her company and guidance we felt like our own daughter is showing us various things with all the care and attention that a nice daughter would give to her parents. I will talk about the other guides in a moment.
All hotels that you have arranged for us are of excellent quality, specially the Capital Hotel in Beijing. We also enjoyed the Yangtze river cruise and liked the accomodation and facilities on board President No 1. It may be mentioned that by paying extra (US$180) we upgraded our cabin to a cabin on the upper deck.
About the tour guides, I have already mentioned they were all very good. However, our guide in Guilin stood out to be excellent.
The guides in Xian and Shanghai were very good too. The guide in Xian was the most knowledgeable. Steve, the guide in Shanghai was the most flexible in terms of arranging site seeing and shopping according to our needs and likings. Steve gave us lots of time. He was with us from 9 a.m. to almost 9 p.m. every day. Two other guides, one who received us at Chonqing airport and dropped us to President No 1 and the other who picked us up from President No 1 and dropped us at the Three Gorges Airport in Yichang were also very good. I found the guide in Yichang to have an excellent command in english. I was very pleased to find out that he knows a lot about Canada as well.
Now I point out a few things which will improve your services even further. The first thing I should point out is the change of flight from Beijing to Xian. The guide in Beijing should have known about it. The second thing is the time gap we had between the arrival of our flight at Chongqing Airport and the departure of President No 1. Our flight arrived at Chongqing Airport at about 9 p.m. and the President No 1 started its voyage at 10 p.m. In my view, this time gap was not enough. I had raised this point earlier. The guide and us had to rush to catch the ship. The third thing has nothing to do with you or your company. But I say this because the hotels might listen to you, the tour operators. In some cases we found a large section of the carpets in the hotels are stained. The carpets look dirty not because they were dirty but because they were stained.
Overall, you have arranged an excellent tour for us. I will not hesitate to contact you in future for our travel needs in China. Thank you very much for your time and attention given to arrange an excellent itinerary for us. Regarding the photos, as you may have noticed or heard I took a lot of photos. The photos were all taken with a semi-professional camera. I woun't be able to send them by email because of their file size. So, I will have to send then on CDs. You can freely use them for promotional purposes as long as you acknowledge my name. Please let me know an address where I should send the CDs with the tour photos.
