  • Day 1 Arrival Dunhang

    Transfer via: Flight on your arrangement

    Upon your arrival in Dunhang you will be met by your local guide and then be transferred to your hotel. Enjoy some leisure time for the rest of the day.


  • Day 2 Dunhang (B, L)

    3 Day Essence Dunhuang Tours

    Sightseeing: Dunhuang Mogao Caves, Mingsha Shan & Yueya Quan

    In the morning we will drive to Dunhuang Mogao Caves, also known as "Thousand Buddha Grottoes". They are located at the rock side of the Singing Sand Mountain in Dunhuang city of Gansu Province. The 3 or 4 tier grottoes extend 1.6 kilometers. According to historical records, the Mogao Caves were carved in 366 AD. There are 492 grottoes in existence with some 45,000 square meters of murals, and 415 painted clay figures.

    Then we will drive to Mingsha Shan & Yueya Quan. When Aurel Stein settled down by this spring to churn out his memoirs, he opined, "It lay hidden away amidst high sands beyond the southern edge of the oasis and about three miles from the town. For the desert wanderer there could be no more appropriate place of rest, I thought, than this delightful little pilgrimage place enclosed all around by sand-ridges rising to over 75m (250 ft.) in height. There was a limpid little lake, of crescent shape and about a quarter of a mile long, which has given the locality its name and its sanctity."
