Great Places to Enjoy Red Leaves in China

2013-12-06 | China travel Guide | Comments(0) |   Views:(1009)

Yesterday morning when I passed by the Sanlidian Roundabout (Guilin) on my way to office, I found that the maple leaves had turned red - that’s really beautiful the leaves shaking slightly in many carriages. I did not spend much time enjoying it, but it did remind me of some other great places for red leaves watching in Guilin or other cities in China. As many tourists want to experience unusual China tours, red leaves watching may be a great choice.

Thanks to my dear colleagues’ support, I had a chance to visit most of attractions in Guilin by accompanying our guests from Singapore at the end of May. During this one week tour, I had not only seen beautiful sceneries but also been impressed by our guests’ enthusiasm and vitality.

One bygone of my ZhiQing life in the countryside- My room-mate in the People’s Commune: Part II

Normally we could enjoy a little bit of leisure after harvesting of the second crop of rice. But the winter of 1973 was busy, especially in our ZhiQing spot. Because a big group of high school graduates were sent to our commune. That day, we were happy to welcome ten more new ZhiQing to our spot. Yes life was boring here. We always hoped something new would happen to us. The old house seemed too small for us. So the Commune decided to build another one- a new ZhiQing spot to us. Of course, the commune had no money for that, everything was paid by the central government. For this campaign was considered as a very important part of the Culture Revolution, a strategy of anti-capitalism.

Another purpose is to investigate some restaurants and hotels in Yangshuo. As a member of its English department - VisitOurChina, I had the great honor to carry out the site investigation with seven collegues of other departments.

Last month I went Daxu with a group from UK. Actually they only plan to stay in Guilin for two nights with full activities, but the second day the Li River got big flooding, the cruise was canceled. People can’t stay in the hotel doing nothing. So I recommended they go to visit the Ancient Town of Daxu.

Guilin is known for a few things, Elephant Trunk Hill, Seven Star Park, Li River, its weird mountains, its spicy food, and a bunch of other stuff. My favorite place in Guilin is the top of any mountain where there's no one next to me.

As is well-known, the Li River of Guilin is amazing with its elegant peaks reflecting on the clear green and mirror-like water, while the best time for experiencing a surprising Li River is always from March to May with spring drizzling rain- the celebrated Li River in Misty Rain, the one to enjoy a surreal beauty of this dreamy and fantastic wonderland.

An ancient stone town by Li River, Guilin

At the Yangmeiling (杨梅岭) of Putao (葡萄) Town of Yangshuo County there hides a small stone town with four stone gates, which need 3-4 hours to walk through all of them. Embraced by continuous mountains, this ancient stone town is apparently isolated from the bustling and hustling outside world. Thanks to that, it still looks like an unaffected Shangri-la where the local live a simple and autarkical life and remains a wonderful destination for hiking lovers.
